CHANGE OF MEETING NOTICE
The first Wednesday being a National Holiday, Twin Falls Lodge will meet on the Second Wednesday the 8th of January.

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,
It’s hard to believe the 2024 is coming to an end already. It seems to have flown by! I would like to start out saying what an outstanding job Worshipful Brother Bob Nelson Jr. did this year. Every Master tries to leave the Lodge in better condition than that which he has received it. Brother Bob, I believe you have done this and some. Congratulations!
The Installation of Officers that took place on December 15th was completed beautifully by R. W. Deputy Grand Pursuivant Jeremy C. Vaughn, with assistance from Brother Bob Nelson Jr. PM, and (DDGM 3), Brother Keith Brooks PGM, and
Brother John Boyer PM. Thank you, my Brothers, for your dedication. I said this at the Installation but I think it bears repeating - I would not be sitting in the East this year if it was not for the love and dedication that Brother Bob Nelson Jr., and Brother Jeremy C. Vaughn has for our Fraternity. Both as well as countless others have spent many long hours coaching me through last few years. Thank you, All. You are all prime examples of what the Fraternity means when they say Brotherly Love.
Another high point of the installation was the presentation of my Grandfathers Gavel from when he was a Worshipful Master of his Lodge in Ohio. That will be a memory for me to treasure for a lifetime. (Maybe not the Crying so much...)
We planned and held a Second Degree on December 18th for Brother Hector
Acevedo, who was passed to the degree of Fellowcraft. Due to the circumstances as they unfolded and the flexibility of all we also conferred the second degree on Brother Jared Evans who passed his proficiency that evening. A good time was had by those who attended, and the fellowship that followed was amazing. Congratulations Brother Hector and Brother Jared.
Brothers, our next Stated Meeting will be on January 8th, 2025. Dinner will
start at 6:00 pm and Lodge will follow at 7:00 pm. If you are able, please plan to attend and show your support for your Lodge. If you need a ride, please call one of your Lodge Officers and we will make sure to assist you with transportation.
There are things that will be coming in the near future for our Lodge Officers to include a meeting to discuss the year, budget and upcoming events. We will talk about that and more at our next stated meeting.

In closing, my brothers, be ye all of one mind, live in peace, and may the God of love and peace delight to dwell with you and bless you.
Fraternally
Matthew D. White
Worshipful Master

WHY “FREE AND ACCEPTED“?
There are several explanations of these words. Masons used to work in freestone
of which there are large deposits in England. Thus Freestone Masons became Free Masons. Then again, no bond-man of slave could become a Freemason, he must be “free” and could move around at will. In those days a serfdom and bond-age were major features of the feudal economy. If you were a serf or “bond” you could not
apprentice your son to a trade, nor could you take an oath or obligation. The word “accepted” distinguishes the speculative Mason from the operative. In the 17th and 18th centuries there was a transition from purely operative lodges to part operative and part speculative. The first accepted Masons were men the lodge desired to honor, perhaps for services rendered, then men who felt they would like to join the Craft as “honorary” members. At any rate, they were “accepted” as Masons even though they were not qualified as operative masons. It also means that a man is “accepted” into Masonry only after the strictest enquiries into his character. Thus “free and accepted” means proved and tested.

The average man’s life consists of twenty years of having his mother ask him where are going; forty years of having his wife ask the same question, and at he end, the mourners wandering, too.
************************
A local minister, returning from a wedding, was ask by his wife, “How did
the wedding go?” He replied, “Fine, my dear, until I asked the bride if she would
‘obey’ and she said, ‘Do you think I’m crazy’? and the bridegroom, who was in
sort of a daze, mumbled ‘I do.’ Then the fun began.”
